Plum Creek Wind Farm

The Plum Creek Wind Farm is a ~414 megawatt (MW) wind farm under development in Cottonwood, Murray and Redwood Counties, Minnesota. The Plum Creek Wind Farm’s footprint spans Ann, Highwater, Germantown, Westbrook, Holly, Dovray, Des Moines River, Murray, Lamberton and North Hero and is anticipated to positively impact the environment as well as the local economy by producing tax revenue, jobs, and contributions through a community fund. The project boasts strong wind resource, enthusiastic landowners, a welcoming community and available transmission opportunities.
Cottonwood, Murray and Redwood Counties are located in the wind-abundant southwest portion of Minnesota, in an area ideal for wind development. The average wind speed, measured at 8.5 meters per second, is about 19 miles per hour. The prevailing wind direction is typically from the northwest and south.
Project History
Geronimo Power has been invested in this area for several years and kicked off project development with the local community in the fourth quarter of 2016. Geronimo Power has relationships with stakeholders in the area and experience working on other energy projects in the state and the region.
