Women EmPowered at a Glance

At Geronimo Power, empowerment isn’t just a buzzword, it’s meaningful action. All year long, our Women EmPowered (WE) Resource Group brings that spirit to life through initiatives that uplift women both inside and outside our workplace.

From donut-fueled quarterly planning meetings and outdoor yoga to conference sponsorships, volunteer drives and speaker events, WE consistently creates spaces where our employees feel supported. What makes the group truly special is its open-door culture: both women and men are welcome to join the group to champion equality and belonging across our organization.

The group’s official mission statement is: “The Women EmPowered Resource Group works to create a supportive network of Geronimo Power employees with the ambition of promoting equal opportunities and respectful working environment for the professional development of women.”

WE is led by an incredible group of women across GIS, HR, accounting, events and real estate, including Annie Griffing, Brooklynn Holtz, Bonny Pradhan, Maddy Doeden, Alyssa Noshbush, Maddy Mowrey and Ashleigh Rymar. This group of women continue to lead purposefully and raise the bar on what community looks like at work.

For WE leader and Events Specialist Maddy Mowrey, joining the group has been a highlight of her time here:

“Joining Women EmPowered has been such a bright spot in my work life. It’s given me the chance to connect with people I don’t always get to collaborate with day to day and to work together on something that really makes an impact. It’s been so fun bringing my events experience to the leadership team and helping elevate our ideas and gatherings. But what I love most is the community — everyone genuinely shows up for one another and brings passion to everything we do.”

For Developer Maddy Doeden, joining the WE leadership team opened the door to growth both personally and professionally.

“I joined the board because I wanted to step into a leadership role and connect with people beyond my day-to-day circle. I’ve grown so much as a leader, learned from inspiring women and formed friendships I wouldn’t have otherwise. I’m so proud of the community we’ve built!”

This October, that passion became a driving force as WE recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month through thoughtful initiatives to honor survivors, uplift those affected and help raise awareness for an issue that has impacted so many.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Initiatives

October 2 — Ribbons to Remember

WE kicked off the month with a ribbon-making activity in the breakroom, inviting employees to create pink ribbons in honor of loved ones who have fought, are fighting or have survived breast cancer. Each ribbon carried a name and was displayed throughout the month, serving as a visual reminder of solidarity and shared hope.

October 15 — Wear Pink Day

Employees across the company, both in-office and remote, showed their support by wearing pink. For every person who participated, WE donated $15 to organizations supporting those fighting breast cancer, turning something as easy as choosing to wear pink into tangible impact.

October 22 — Pumpkin Decorating at the WE Quarterly

The group’s quarterly meeting took on a festive and meaningful twist with pumpkin decorating. After discussing upcoming events, budgets and volunteer opportunities, members painted pumpkins with sharpies and pink ribbon stickers, a reminder that awareness initiatives can be both powerful and fun.

October 29 — Goodie Bag Packing Event

WE closed out the month with a hands-on volunteer event, assembling wellness and self-care packages for patients at Gilda’s Club, a local cancer support organization. Volunteers packed goodie bags and wrote encouraging notes to spread warmth and encouragement to those undergoing treatment.

Through every event and donation this October, WE honored the many lives touched by breast cancer. From the office to the community, every ribbon, pumpkin and step taken reflected what Women EmPowered is all about — coming together with purpose and action to create change that matters. Beyond Breast Cancer Awareness Month, WE continued its mission of empowerment by investing in professional growth, sponsoring three members, Alia Mohammad, Jacqui Runholt and Kelly Novak, to attend the WRISE Leadership Forum in Atlanta. The event brought together women and underrepresented professionals from across the renewable energy sector to connect, build skills and lead change. Kelly shared that her favorite session, From Doing to Leading – Becoming an Effective Manager, opened her eyes to the stigmas women often face in leadership. Alia added that the conference was “fantastic” and highly recommended it, noting the value of candid insights from industry leaders in sessions like Turning Challenges into COD: Tales of Resilient Project Developers.

Celebrating Women EmPowered and Their Continued Momentum

At Geronimo Power, we’re proud to support employee-led groups like Women EmPowered that champion our community-focused values in real and tangible ways, from meaningful charitable efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to ongoing initiatives that uplift and support one another. The dedication of this inspiring group reminds us that empowerment isn’t just a value—it’s an action. It’s showing up, giving back and creating spaces where every employee feels seen, supported and empowered to lead. With thoughtful programming already underway through the end of the year and into early 2026, Women EmPowered is building strong momentum and showing what’s possible when people come together with purpose. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the leadership team driving this impact across our workplace and community.
