On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, National Grid Renewables announced a donation of $5,000 to the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department on behalf of the North Fork Wind Farm. The announcement follows a previous $5,000 donation made to the Bloomfield Fire Department towards the purchase of a new fire truck, and two donated benches made from recycled wind turbine blades to the Bloomfield and Crofton Community schools.

“Our team is always looking for ways to support our local project communities,” said Matt Woolery, Developer at National Grid Renewables. “We understand the importance of emergency services in rural areas, and it meant a lot to me to announce this donation, which I hope will go far in supplying resources to local residents.”

National Grid Renewables attended the volunteer fire department’s bi-weekly meeting on Tuesday as a special guest, and the team was delighted to announce their donation to more than 20 members of the volunteer fire department. To celebrate the occasion, they also brought in Smokin’ Chip’s Catering of Wausa to serve a BBQ dinner.

“Thank you so much to National Grid Renewables for their generous donation to the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department. The guys had a great time learning about the North Fork Wind Farm and enjoyed the BBQ as well,” said Jason Wavrunek, fire chief of the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department. “The donation will be put to good use to help us purchase some much-needed tools for the fire department.”

“As a restaurant owner, I appreciate National Grid Renewables’ commitment to working with local businesses. We had a great time catering the Crofton fire department donation event, and look forward to more opportunities to work together in the future.” said Chris Ferdig, owner of Smokin’ Chips Catering, which serves a full range of BBQ, catering anything from small gatherings to large corporate events and weddings.

National Grid Renewables is developing the North Fork Wind Farm, a local wind energy development poised to deliver over $230 million in direct economic benefit which includes new tax revenue, the creation of new jobs, and charitable giving.
