National Grid Renewables donated two benches to the Bloomfield and Crofton Community Schools on behalf of the North Fork Wind Farm. The donated benches are made from recycled wind turbine blades.
Ribbon cutting events for the donated benches were held at each school. Attendees included school superintendents, principals, teachers, and students, as well as representatives from National Grid Renewables.
The ribbon cutting events also included a short presentation by Isaiah Skrdla, a wind energy instructor from Northeast Community College, who spoke to students about careers in wind energy.
“Thank you National Grid Renewables for donating the bench at the High School and giving a presentation to the students!” said Chris Look, Superintendent at Crofton Independent Schools.
“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to National Grid Renewables for their generous donation of a new modern bench constructed from recycled wind tower blades to Bloomfield Community Schools. We are truly grateful for such a thoughtful contribution,” commented Jeff Messersmith, Superintendent of Bloomfield. “Additionally, we greatly appreciate the informative presentation that National Grid Renewables provided to our staff and students, highlighting the various opportunities available with this form of renewable energy. Thank you once again for your support and commitment to sustainability.”

National Grid Renewables is developing the North Fork Wind Farm, a local wind energy development poised to deliver over $230 million in direct economic benefit, $25 million of which will flow to local schools through new tax revenue production.
