Default Message:
To the members of the Kentucky Public Service Commission,
I write to encourage your support for Geronimo Power, LLC’s Exie Solar Project (Case # 2025-00151) in Green County, Kentucky. The Exie Solar Project is a proposed 110 megawatt (MW) solar development that will span approximately 1,340 acres. The project will provide many benefits for the local economy, the environment, and family-owned farms, including:
Broad economic support for the community including $44.3 million in direct economic benefit:
- $10.4 million dollars in tax revenue over 20 years that will support schools, police and fire, and other services provided by the county.
- $550,000 in charitable funds over 20 years to the local community.
Sustained environmental benefits through the life of the facility:
- Solar projects don’t produce harmful toxins that can affect water, land and air quality.
- Solar projects help maintain pollinator habitats and soil conservation.
Benefits to family farms that are vital to this region’s rural way of life:
- Land for solar is leased for a minimum of 20 years, maintaining family ownership and creating a reliable source of income for farmers and rural landowners.
- Solar supports vegetation growth beneath and around the panels, preserving the soil for future farming use.
